Arriving in the capital of Tuscany, means you are here ready to experience the glories of Renaissance art and architecture.
Allow two full days in order to achieve your main goal: Museums.. The city offers a big range in that sector. Start your day with the classics:
The Uffizi, the Pitti. Having finished with the latter (Pitti), don't miss the amazing Boboli gardens (Giardini Boboli). Then you can visit a series of exhibitions at Palazzo Strozzi, the Bargello museum, the Stibbert museum, the Medici chapels and finally the impressive Duomo. In between as you walk along the Arno river, having finished with the favourite of the masses Ponte Vecchio, visit the legendary Salvattore Ferragamo's palazzo and finish your day with the boutiques of via Tornabuoni.
HOTELS
There is a great selection and competition in luxury ones. I strongly recommend the Four Seasons especially in Summer months. Together with Milan's the finest in Europe. For really good location (close to everything), go to Rocco Forte's Hotel Savoy. Also for a central location, J.K. Place Firenze.
For a river view, choose between Continentale and the two Starwood's operated hotels in Piazza Ognisanti (All Saints).
On the other hand, if you want spice and finesse, ignore the city center and stay at following resort hotels, to the city's outskirts. (My personal favourites).
Villa la Massa, Villa la Vedetta, Il Salviatino, Villa S.Michele, and Grand hotel Villa Cora. Be aware that all those may...look into your pockets and see if they are deep enough...
A cheaper option should be Villa Olmi (in the south-east of the town).
DINNING
Buca Lapi, I Chiostri, All'Antico Ristoro del Cambi, Trattoria Sostanza ( IL Troia ), Antica Torre.
For gastronomia (3 Michelin stars : Enoteca Pinchiorri ). Also for fine dining : Onice, Ristorante de il Salviatino.
For something "special" try historic Ristorante CIBREO. And why not ALLE MURATE, in a palazzo of '300...
